[ad_1]

  • Second election campaign in November after July 1, 2022
  • In two activities:
  • 150 truck drivers rewarded and educated
  • 640 truck tires inspected
  • 3% tires are underinflated, 6% are overinflated
  • 5% tire damage
  • 8% Valve inaccessible
  • 46% of tires need to be rotated
  • 44% of valve dust caps are missing

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: One of the main topics in truck safety in the UAE is tire safety. Pieces of truck tires are a common sight on UAE roads. This means danger to the truck itself as well as to oncoming traffic.

For the 2nd time this year, Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center (ITC), Al Masaood, Bridgestone and RoadSafetyUAE came together to raise awareness among truck drivers about tires and to thank truck drivers for their hard work. The event, taking place in the second week of November, is the second in a series of such events hosted by event partners.

A total of 640 truck tires were inspected at the two events held at the Mussafah truck weighing station in Abu Dhabi, of which 3% showed dangerous levels of underinflation and 6% showed overinflation. Even more dangerous, 5% of tires were damaged and 8% had valves that were not even accessible. Tire rotation (front to rear, left to right) plays an important role in extending tire life, with 46% of tires requiring this reinstallation. Valves are critical to keeping tires pressurized, and valve caps are critical to preventing valve failure, so 44% of missing valve caps surveyed were unsatisfactory.

In addition to tire inspections, more than 150 truck drivers received gift bags as a token of appreciation and received tire safety awareness training on the importance of properly inflated tires, tire pressure vs. Temperatures rise, what precautions drivers must take to avoid tire blowouts, and more.

Salah Adib, General Manager of Al Masaood Tires, Batteries and Accessories, said: “Al Masaood is a leader in the automotive industry in Abu Dhabi and we have taken this initiative as a logical extension of our business to help with some of the day-to-day issues – Emirate Drivers Today’s road safety challenges. Tire quality and usage play a major role in fuel consumption and truck emissions due to tire rolling resistance. The effectiveness and road handling of tires, as well as their safety, performance on loose or wet roads , ride comfort and stability are affected not only by tire age and wear, but also by inflation pressure. With the correct inflation pressure, the tire will work better, wear less and will run better due to lower rolling resistance Improve vehicle fuel consumption.”

Stefano Sanchini, Regional Managing Director, Bridgestone Middle East and Africa: “Maintaining regular tire inspections improves safety and reduces vehicle downtime, while also improving vehicle performance. With our second tire safety campaign, we remain committed to Improving the mobility and mobility of our fleet customers and partners while contributing to the safety of the transportation industry through actionable and data-driven insights. Regular inspections improve safety and profitability, especially in off-road tires and In terms of rims/wheels, these tires and rims/wheels require maintenance before operation every shift. We believe that through these initiatives, the industry will be able to better educate drivers and technicians on truck tire inspection regulations. Through In doing so, we will continue to encourage fleet owners, operators and others in the industry to advance the safety industry.”

Thomas Edelmann, Founder and Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE, added: “The safety of trucks, truck tires and truck drivers is clearly a key component of road safety in the UAE. We are therefore delighted that ITC Abu Dhabi, Al Masaood and Bridgestone The commitment in this campaign series. Regularly checking truck tires, educating truck drivers and showing them our appreciation for their hard work is critical.”
