Abu Dhabi [UAE]November 27 (ANI): Alex Hales and Chris Lynn in the second match of the fourth day of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday A tenacious opening partnership between the two gave Abu Dhabi a win over the Northern Warriors.
After the Northern Warriors were limited to 95 for seven, Alex Hales struck 44, Chris Lynn scored 31 and tied for 69 to seal an eight-wicket victory by two balls.
The Northern Warriors won the throw and opted for a quick run with openers Adam Rice and Kenna Lewis. Lyth hit a three-pointer from opening bowler Naveen Ul Haq, but Peter Hatzoglou was stingy as usual. He dropped just one run in the second inning. Andre Tye got his first win of the inning by penalizing Kennar Lewis for 2 and allowing him to be caught by Vince on a screen.
Adil Rashid also prevented the batsmen from making big strikes and conceded just eight runs. Usman picked two boundaries off Ahmad Butt, but the Northern Warriors were only 1 for 35 at halftime. The sixth inning was disastrous for the Northern Braves, as Adam Rice was out to give Harzoglu a 22 run and King caught deep in the wicket on a long sweep. To make matters worse, Usman Khan ran 13 on the next ball.
Rovman Powell took up the challenge and hit Amad Butt’s 7th pitch for six runs over the third before hitting another six on a deep square leg. To the cheers of the Saturday crowd, Sherfane Rutherford also shot 6 to the same area and finished with 21 points.

When Tye pitched in the eighth, Powell hit his second pitch for 6 overs. He also hit his fourth delivery from boundary and the fifth on six more. Tye ended Powell’s batting and the last ball was caught by Naveen for 29. He batted 10 balls with a boundary and four sixes. Rutherford took six more balls off Rashid to center goal but were later caught by Alex Hales with two balls from long range.
The Northern Warriors’ chances of over 100 overs disappeared as Naveen bowled in the last over, leaving Isuru Udana for 2 and also allowing Abhimanyu Mithun to be caught by Vince for 5 in the deep mid-wicket. The Northern Warriors could therefore only muster 95 points, 7 points and 10 points.
Abu Dhabi needed to score with less than 10 runs at the start when Alex Hales flicked the first ball off Mohamed Irfan to a fine leg boundary but only seven runs were completed . Chris Lynn made up for it, hitting Gus Atkinson’s boundary line and hitting 12 for six. The battle between batsmen and bowlers continued, with Abhimanyu Mithun allowing Lynn to score just one run in the third innings, with the rest being singles and doubles.
The fact that Abu Dhabi did not concede a single wicket gave them confidence and Hales hit Isuru Udana for two in the fourth. Hales then hit the first pitch of the fifth from Irfan to deep point. He also finished with his third pitch at halftime. Over the long haul, Hales has crossed the 50 mark with six collaborations.
Needing just 41 runs from the next 30 balls, Abu Dhabi began to take control of the game. The 69-run partnership ended in the seventh inning when Rayad Emrit was caught by Gus Atkinson for 44 for Hales. His 25 strikes had six boundaries and two sixes. James Vince, who joined Lynn, sped up the game and hit three of Atkinson’s boundaries in the eighth.
Emrit fired a fine ninth to delay victory for Abu Dhabi, who lost by just seven. When the last three balls required a run, Mithun’s clean strike ended Lynn’s 31. Brandon King walked in and hit the win on the fourth pitch of the final play, hitting a foul from the center fielder’s touchline. (Arnie)
