On Sunday, December 11th at 3pm, the Aiken Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating Christmas again with the Aiken Symphony Orchestra featuring Jonathan Kaufman’s “charming” talent Living up to its own unforgettable promise. USC Aiken.
The sound of the festive season is full of moving musical masterpieces, with an inspiring message and charm in the air. When paired with equally legendary vocal talent, their annual appearances bring back memories that are far from simple nostalgia.
A prime example is Irving Berlin’s iconic classic “White Christmas,” recorded in 1942 by Bing Crosby.It’s still the best-selling single of all time, according to Guinness World Records Estimated sales of more than 50 million copies.
This holiday season, ASO audiences will come home to many of their favorite tunes for the holidays, from popular standards like “White Christmas” to the popular Russian dance classic “The Nutcracker,” as well as selections presented by the captivating talents of Aiken members Citizens Ballet.
Tenor Jonathan Kaufman, who represents the very best of the “new generation” of male singers, has rejoined ASO to cast the audience a spell after a riveting performance at the orchestra’s 2022 Valentine’s Day concert “Amore” cast a magical holiday spell.
Kaufman, most recently hailed as absolutely “magnificent” and “heroic” as Pinkerton in Puccini’s operatic masterpiece Madame Butterfly, has not only made his ASO debut and appeared with numerous national performing orchestras and opera companies, Includes Winter Opera St. Louis, Charlottesville Opera, Western Piedmont Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Carolina Opera and Toledo Opera.
Other operatic debuts include Rudolph in Puccini’s La Boheme and Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth. He is a finalist in the 2022 Jansen Foundation Vocal Competition and the Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition, further proof of his ability to enter with such beauty and skill. At the most magical time of the year, the magic of this vocal champion and orchestra will not only relive the timeless memories of the season, but return the holiday to something truly otherworldly.
