[ad_1]

ABU DHABI, UAE – Abu Dhabi Maritime, the main regulator of Abu Dhabi’s waterways, celebrated another successful edition of the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show (ADIBS) 2022.

The team from Abu Dhabi Maritime showcased a range of developments being implemented to support the growth of the maritime sector and position Abu Dhabi as a leading maritime capital. Highlights include the first comprehensive safety survey of all waterways, a motorboat licensing service and a milestone set to move the superyacht industry forward.

In addition, 10 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with leading industry players to further support the development of Abu Dhabi Maritime’s waterways, terminals and ports across the emirate.

The event also provided the ideal platform to highlight the launch of Abu Dhabi Maritime’s first-ever public water taxi service earlier this month, serving the Great Yas Bay and Al Reef areas within Yas Island. During the show, Abu Dhabi Maritime implemented and operated a similar service from Al Qana to ADIBS, providing easy public transport to and from the show.

As the culmination of ADIBS 2022, Abu Dhabi Maritime has announced new industry awards to recognize the best terminal facilities in the region, as part of its efforts to highlight best practice and foster global growth in the industry. The awards will cover a range of categories, including safety, customer satisfaction and best practice, among others. As part of Abu Dhabi Marine’s efforts to strike a balance between terminal development and environmental protection, specific awards will also be established for sustainability and ecological initiatives.

The first-of-its-kind award will eventually go to the marina with the best overall performance across all categories. An independent panel of experts will judge the inaugural awards, which are scheduled to be presented at ADIBS 2023.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, acting CEO of AD Ports Group Maritime Cluster and SAFEEN Group, said: “AD Ports Group is delighted to take this opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication that goes into making Abu Dhabi’s waterways safer and more accessible.
