Downtown Haverhill is in festive spirit tonight as the Haverhill Hometown Holiday Celebration kicks off.
Formerly known as Christmas Walks, the event takes place between 5:30 and 7:30 pm and one of the volunteers, Melissa Seavey of Bethany Communities, gives an overview to WHAV listeners on WHAV’s Morning Show.
“It’s a little bit different than the walks we’ve had in the past. This year, we’re calling it the Haverhill Hometown Festival. It’s hosted by the city, with volunteers like Destination Downtown Haverhill and L’Arche and the Chamber of Commerce. We’re helping it. So after a couple of years of COVID and things getting quieter, we’re really excited to bring something back to downtown Haverhill,” she said.
Haverhill’s tree lighting ceremony begins around 6:30 p.m. with Santa’s visit to Washington Square. Additionally, there will be live music at G’s at 35 Washington Street and an ugly sweater party at Peddler’s Daughter at 45 Wingate Street. Vote for multiple awards including Best Interior Decoration, Best Outdoor Decoration, Best Hometown Holiday Event and Charlie Brown Tree Award. The voting QR code can be found at Destination Haverhill City Center Facebook Page.
