Senior diplomat says Expo 2020 Dubai: Pakistan will take advantage of trade opportunities-News

The country will host more than 200 commercial, cultural and tourism events in its pavilions

A senior diplomat stated that the Pakistani business community is fully prepared to take full advantage of the trade and investment opportunities brought about by the 2020 Dubai World Expo, which will start in October.

The Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Hassan Afzal Khan, stated that the Pakistani community is committed to making the large-scale exhibition a great success through their overwhelming participation in the six-month event.

“The Pakistan Pavilion is almost ready. We have just finalized a plan to ensure the active participation of the community. Businessmen should be ready to unfold their plans and build a soft image of the country,” Khan said in a speech to members of the Pakistan Business Council An event to celebrate the country’s 75th Independence Day in Dubai late Wednesday.

Professional diplomat Khan succeeded the former consul general Ahmed Amjad Ali (Ahmed Amjad Ali) and took office in the first week of August. He has also served in Pakistani missions in Berlin, Pretoria and Hanoi.

Visa challenge

In response to a question about the difficulty of visas for Pakistani tourists, Khan said that the UAE government has taken various measures to relax travel restrictions on international tourists.

The new consul general said: “We believe that the travel restrictions will be further eased in the next few weeks, and a large number of Pakistanis will participate in this event with great success.”

Ahmed Shaikhani, Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Dubai, welcomed Hassan Afzal Khan and expressed that the business community is keen to actively participate in the Expo.

Shaikhani shared a video message during the trip. He said that he invited the Pakistani community and American diplomats to visit the Pakistan Pavilion at the World Expo.

Iqbal Dawood, director and officiating chairman of PBC Dubai, said that the Expo is a great opportunity for the Pakistani community to integrate with global companies and top corporate leaders to explore business opportunities.

“We need to promote Pakistan’s tourism potential in accordance with the official theme “Hidden Treasure”. This is a grand event and we will go all out to make it a great success through our active participation,” Dawood said.

Digital display

Trade and Investment Commissioner Adeem Khan introduced the latest developments of the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to members of the Business Council.

“Pakistan has one of the largest pavilions at the World Expo, with 35,000 square feet of space. It will have eight designated sections to digitally showcase the country’s civilization, natural wonders, music, handicrafts, and opportunities in key areas,” Adim Say.

“During the six-month Expo, we will host more than 200 events. The focus will remain on cultural and tourism events, seminars and B2B conferences,” he said.

General Manager, Champion Neon, and PBC Dubai Director Shabbir Merchant shared their concluding remarks and thanked the diplomatic guests, PBC members and other participants who attended the event.
