This month marks five years since Emirates and flydubai launched a wide-ranging partnership and joined forces to offer customers unrivaled travel options to every corner of the globe. They really did deliver on their promises.
Since the partnership was established in 2017, the two airlines’ joint route network has expanded significantly, enabling more than 11 million customers to benefit from seamless travel on more than 250,000 flights.
The innovative partnership goes beyond the standard codeshare model and now includes integrated network collaboration, timetable optimization, seamless connectivity between Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminals 2 and 3, baggage transfer on a single itinerary, As well as the reciprocal loyalty offer loyalty program under the joint programme, Emirates Skywards.

The combined network offers unrivaled choice: Today, customers can travel to 215 destinations in 98 countries, with an average of more than 250 codeshare flights to choose from every day. Emirates customers can book flights to over 80 unique flydubai destinations and flydubai customers can choose from over 99 Emirates destinations. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, popular destinations for clients include: Kathmandu, Kuwait, Maldives, Tel Aviv and Zanzibar.
Joint loyalty program maximizes customer returns: Over 8.5 million members have been able to enjoy the benefits of the joint Emirates and flydubai frequent flyer programme, earning 150 billion Skywards Miles over the past five years through the partnership.
DXB seamless connectivity: customers enjoy seamless check-in, efficient baggage transfers, passengers can use Emirates lounge in Terminal 3 and flydubai lounge in Terminal 2, as both airlines expand Flight schedules with short connecting times and easy connections to 33 flydubai destinations operated from DXB’s Emirates Terminal 3.
Network continues to grow: As Emirates and flydubai continue to add more flights, the 270,000 passengers connecting between the two airlines each month are creating new travel opportunities. This offers customers greater flexibility, with multiple daily flights to destinations such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Karachi, Maldives, major cities in Saudi Arabia and Tel Aviv. Both airlines have also continued to expand their networks, with Emirates recently resuming flights to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. In 2022, flydubai’s network will expand more than ever, with flights to Al Ula, Namangan, Osh, Pisa and Samarkand, among others. Flydubai also announced flights to Gan in the Maldives, Cagliari and Milan-Bergamo in Italy, Corfu in Greece, Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand, and resumed flights to Saudi Arabia from 2023. Flights to Abha, Ha’ir, Hofuf and Tabuk.
Continued investment to improve customer experience: Emirates will retrofit premium economy seats on 120 aircraft starting this month as part of a $2 billion investment that also includes improved dining options and more sustainable options. flydubai has launched a new business class recliner to provide passengers with more comfort on short and medium haul flights. flydubai has increased its fleet to 70 Boeing 737s and will retrofit some existing aircraft and equip its future aircraft with new business class seats. – trade arab news agency
