Abu Dhabi T10 League Chairman Shaji Mulk had some good news for cricket fans as he suggested that legendary India captain MS Dhoni could play the tournament after retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni, 41, has played in every IPL season since the tournament began in 2008 and is set to play in his 16th edition next year.
While the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain has yet to reveal when he plans to retire from all forms of Indian cricket, he did seem to hint that this year’s IPL could be his last. Under BCCI rules, Indian cricketers are not allowed to play in overseas leagues until they have retired from all forms of cricket in the country.

Shaji Mulk reveals he will be close to legendary India captain Dhoni Playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 league after the 41-year-old retired from the IPL. Dhoni also played a key role in helping to establish the Abu Dhabi T10 league, Mulk added.
“Dhoni has had a big impact on T10. He advised us before the league started. We will definitely be close to him when he retires,” Mulk said in an interview with ANI. If Dhoni is to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, he will join the ranks of former Indian cricketers such as Suresh Raina, S Sreesanth, Stuart Binny and Abhimanyu Mithun who have all played in the tournament.
Dhoni is likely to play his final IPL season in 2023 following his comments after the last match of last season. The four-time IPL champion said that whenever he plays his last match, he wants to play in front of the CSK fans who absolutely adore him.
“Mumbai is a place where I get a lot of love and affection as a team and as individuals. But it’s not a good thing for the CSK fans. Also, hopefully next year there will be opportunities for the team to travel, so it’s like thanking all Different places, we will play in different venues,” Dhoni explained.
