Caribbean countries invite investors to benefit from ‘cash-in’ opportunities in different sectors, especially renewable energy

St. Kitts and Nevis is looking to the UAE for investment in a wide range of sectors, especially renewable energy. St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terence Drew said it also invited UAE investors to benefit from opportunities in the Caribbean country.

“We have had many discussions with UAE officials on a number of topics, one of which is renewable energy. Citizens and residents of the UAE can also benefit from the investment opportunities offered by St. Kitts and Nevis. I invite residents and citizens to take advantage of These opportunities,” Dr Terence said during his first visit to Dubai.

He invited UAE residents to invest in tourism, renewable energy, real estate and healthcare.

“We note that there are many opportunities for mutual benefit between the two countries and will continue to explore deeper cooperation in areas such as renewable energy development, climate change adaptation and tourism,” he said.

He added that the UAE government has expressed interest in assisting his country in adopting stronger climate change resilience measures, especially related to infrastructure.

“We are looking to apply new technology and science to help protect us from the forces of nature, and the UAE has demonstrated a knack for developing and building durable and resilient structures. This is certainly an area that we will rapidly capitalize on, as shared knowledge will Help us meet challenges in these areas.”

Tourism Minister Martha Henderson and Attorney-General Garth Wilkin also accompanied the prime minister on his visit.

Improving Citizenship by Investment Program

The UAE is also assisting the Caribbean nation to build a desalination plant powered by renewable energy to meet water needs as the country expands, thanks to its successful Citizenship by Investment program.

St. Kitts and Nevis is a pioneer in citizenship-by-investment programs and is popular with high-net-worth individuals and investors seeking citizenship from other countries.

“The citizenship by investment program is very solid for robust due diligence practices and we want to strengthen that. We are in the process of finalizing policy on our program. The world is changing and procedures must adapt. We want to ensure that the program is open and transparent while meeting The needs of our people,” Dr Terence told a news conference during his visit to Dubai.

Dubai’s progress wows PM

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis praised Dubai for its amazing development and achievements over the past two decades.

“This was my first visit to Dubai. I was shown ‘Old Dubai’ and ‘New Dubai’. It was done in 20 years. It was fantastic, to say the least,” Dr Terrance praised the iconic Palm Jumeirah, and hopes to replicate it in this Caribbean nation.

He also praised the emirate’s innovative approach as it provides opportunities for people to drive business forward.

“We will form an ‘innovation department’ because innovation can significantly drive social progress.”
