Student Energy Summit 2023 Video Contest (win a trip to Abu Dhabi)

application is open 2023 Student Energy Summit Video Contest. The Student Energy Summit 2023 in partnership with IRENA and Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S), a Masdar initiative, is pleased to announce the launch of a video competition focusing on the topic Reshaping the future with renewable energy.

Participants are asked to submit videos in one of two categories:

  • Where are you specifically advancing your community’s transition to a renewable energy future?
  • What is your country/city/community doing to facilitate the transition to a renewable energy future?

  • The winner of the video contest will:
    • Get fully funded to attend the Student Energy Summit 2023 in Abu Dhabi in November 2023.
    • Invitation to participate virtually in a panel at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023 Youth Centre.
  • Popular videos will be showcased at IRENA Youth Forum 2023, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023 and Student Energy Summit 2023 and spread on social media.

qualified

  • Open to entrants aged 18-30 from all over the world.
  • Video entries must clearly and creatively address the above topics in 60 seconds or less.
  • Each person can only submit one video.
  • Videos should be in English, or if created in another language, must include English subtitles.
  • Being fully aware of cultural aspects around the world, it is not mandatory for young people to appear in the video.
  • Young people, especially those from low-income countries and those living in areas most affected by the digital divide, may not have access to advanced video production technologies. Therefore, there are no specific requirements on the quality or resolution of the video.
  • Submissions that depict violence, sexism, racism, or contain content or images that may be considered abusive, inflammatory, disparaging, or disrespectful to any group, individual, or institution will be disqualified. Submissions must adhere to the norms of civil discourse and be appropriate for a global public audience.

selection criteria

A selection committee comprising representatives from Student Energy Summit 2023, IRENA and Masdar will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to topic: The video expresses clearly and creatively the theme of “Reinventing the Future with Renewable Energy” through positive youth perspectives.
  • Originality and creativity: The content is unique, not derivative of other ideas, and presents the topic in an original and compelling way.
  • Potential Audience Impact: The video conveys a personal or aspirational idea that is inspiring to the audience, especially young people, and can be put into practice by other young people.

You can enter the contest by uploading a video of up to 60 seconds on Twitter or Instagram that addresses the topic of the contest using hashtags #SES2023 Video Contest And tag the Student Energy Summit 2023 (@ses.2023 on Instagram and @ses2023 on Twitter).

The Youth Video Contest will be open for submissions from December 1-31, 2022. The closing date is 23:59 Abu Dhabi time on 31 December 2022.
