UAE: Students must present Covid test results during school reopening-News

UAE authorities stated that unvaccinated students in the 12-18 age group must get negative RT-PCR test results every week to participate in face-to-face courses.

On Thursday, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) issued an agreement for face-to-face learning in UAE schools and colleges, setting out the conditions that students, parents and educational institution staff must meet.

At the beginning of the school year, all students of all ages must obtain a negative PCR test result within 96 hours. In the first month, all students in the 12-18 age group—whether vaccinated or not—must get PCR test results every two weeks. .

After the first month, the weekly PCR test conditions will apply to students in the 12-18 year old age group who have not been vaccinated under medical exceptions approved by the health authorities. The authorities stated that all people can receive distance education, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not.

After 30 days, all students who have been vaccinated twice and 14 days have passed since the second vaccination must undergo a PCR test once a month.

Academic staff, administrative staff, and service providers must receive two doses of the vaccine and can only enter the premises 14 days after the second dose of vaccine, applying the green pass protocol.

Children 4-12 years old must undergo PCR or saliva testing every month, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not. In addition, distance education is one of their options.

Allow parents and guardians to enter the premises. The green pass agreement will be applied.

Educational institutions are allowed to hold events, provided that preventive and preventive measures are taken, and green passes are applied. Participants must provide negative PCR results.

Parents should download the Alhosn app for their children, print a certificate and take them to school to prove their vaccination status and test results.

The authorities also announced the establishment of a working group for educational institutions called the “Health and Safety Committee.” It will monitor all activities to ensure preventive health measures are taken.

The transportation service will follow all safety measures and comply with the total capacity approved by the relevant entity.

Educational institutions must provide isolation rooms in accordance with the conditions set by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and follow the procedures for handling confirmed or suspected Covid-19 cases.

When using the prayer room, all students and staff must bring their own prayer blankets and wear masks when praying. The prayer room is cleaned and disinfected every time it is used.

It is important to use personal protection tools, do not share with colleagues, and avoid shaking hands.

NCEMA noted that certain details of the agreement may vary from emirate to emirate.

Authorities urge parents of determined people to rely on distance education until a specialist doctor individually evaluates each medical case and determines the appropriate tests and vaccines.

The school stated that it is everyone’s responsibility for students to return to school safely. NCEMA added: “However, the most important role is for parents and guardians, especially in raising awareness of prevention and preventive measures.”
