Sharjah: His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Alwais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Vice-Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), received a high-level business delegation from the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The delegation was headed by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Vakhabov Davron. The meeting was held at the SCCI Headquarters and was attended by Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice-Chairman of the SCCI Board of Directors, Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, Secretary-General of FCCI, HE Mohammad Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, and Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General, Communications and Commerce Sector, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce .
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to promote business cooperation between the two countries, especially in strategic areas such as agriculture, livestock, cotton, tourism and foreign investment systems. The two sides also reviewed economic and investment opportunities in Sharjah and Uzbekistan and explored ways to benefit from them to help take their economic relationship to the next level.

Al Owais emphasized that the UAE and Uzbekistan have strong bilateral relations at all levels, adding that now is the time to advance the trade relations between the two countries so that they are on par with the quality of bilateral relations. There are promising opportunities for cooperation that business owners and investors in the UAE and Uzbekistan can leverage to build partnerships and boost the economies of both countries.
He emphasized that Emirati businessmen are very interested in learning about various investment opportunities around the world, including in Uzbekistan, adding that SCCI and FCCI will spare no effort to support bilateral cooperation between the private sector in the UAE and Uzbekistan.
Referring to the UAE’s business advantages, Al Owais clarified that the UAE has developed advanced infrastructure and undertaken major legislative reforms to strengthen its position as a global hub for business and investment.
“Competitive business incentives in the country, coupled with advantages offered by economic zones and free zones, paves the way to attract more foreign investment,” Al Owais said, adding that the UAE Chamber of Commerce welcomes UAE-Uzbekistan business The launch council of 25 August 2021 was established.
He reiterated that the council will positively reflect the economic relations between the UAE and Uzbekistan by encouraging businessmen from the private sectors of the two countries to exchange business trips and understand the potential of bilateral cooperation between UAE and Uzbekistan companies.
Vakhabov Davron called on Emirati businessmen to visit Uzbekistan to closely explore investment opportunities in the country, especially in key sectors such as the oil industry, food industry, pharmaceuticals, plastics and energy. He stressed that Uzbekistan is interested in strengthening partnerships with Emirati companies.
