The Abu Dhabi Civil Court has ordered an employer to pay Dh100,000 in compensation to a worker whose hand had to be amputated after it got stuck in a machine while working as a waiter at a restaurant.
The worker filed a lawsuit demanding that his employer pay him Dh200,000 for the loss of his hand and the pain he suffered.
He said employers neglected to ensure safety and precautions to protect him from the dangers of the job, leading to the amputation of his right hand.
The court found the employer guilty and ordered him to pay Dh100,000 as compensation for the worker’s lost hand and Dh10,000 for legal costs.
