The Maldives has been named the world’s best destination for the third year in a row at the World Travel Awards 2022.
In addition to this title for the Maldives, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was also awarded the title of World’s Leading Tourism Bureau this year – the first time the Maldives has won in this category.
MMPRC competed to win the award against 28 other prestigious tourism boards including Incredible India, Tourism Australia and VisitBritain.
“This achievement is a testament to the popularity and dynamism of the Maldives as a tourism destination. What the industry has achieved over the past three years reflects the resilience of the Maldives tourism sector through any crisis – united, we can achieve anything, said Tourism Minister Dr Abdulla Mausoom, who addressed the ceremony.
CEO and General Manager Thoyyib said: “It is an incredible honor to be recognized as the world’s leading destination for the third year in a row. This year marks our golden jubilee for tourism in the Maldives and I couldn’t have asked for a better achievement to honor our shores The 50th anniversary of welcoming tourists. This award is due to the guidance of the Chinese government, the support of partners, and the hard work of the entire tourism industry.
