Reports say 85 people were killed in the massacre at Kabul Airport-News

[ad_1]

On Thursday, suicide bombers struck the crowded gate at Kabul Airport. At least two explosions occurred, causing mass murders of civilians. According to Western media including the BBC, the explosion caused 85 deaths and 140 injuries.

There is no complete death toll, but video images uploaded by Afghan journalists show that dozens of people were killed in the crowded crowd outside the airport.

A ditch by the airport fence was full of bloody corpses, some of which were picked up and stacked by the canal, while the howling civilians were looking for their relatives. The Pentagon stated that “some” American soldiers were killed. Sources said that at least four Marines were killed and three were injured.

Several Western countries have stated that the airlift of civilians is now practically over, and the United States has blocked the gates of the airport, leaving tens of thousands of Afghans who worked for the West in the Twenty Years War without a way out.

A Taliban official stated that at least 13 people, including children, were killed in the attack and 52 were injured, but it is clear from the video that these figures are far from complete. A surgical hospital run by an Italian charity stated that the hospital alone was treating more than 60 wounded.

The explosion occurred in a crowd outside the airport. They had gathered for several days, hoping to escape by airlift, which the United States said would end on Tuesday after the Taliban quickly occupied the country.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion.

An eyewitness named Jamshed said he went to the airport hoping to obtain a U.S. visa.

“There was a very powerful suicide attack in the crowd. Many people were killed, including Americans,” he said.

Zubair is a 24-year-old civil engineer. He and his cousin tried to enter the airport for nearly a week. His cousin had documents that allowed him to travel to the United States. He said he was 50 meters away from the first of the two bombers. Explosives were detonated at the door.

“Men, women and children are all screaming. I saw many injured people-men, women and children-being loaded into private cars and taken to the hospital,” he said. After the explosion, gunfire sounded.

Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said on Twitter: “We can confirm that the explosion at the monastery gate was the result of a complex attack that caused some American and civilian casualties. We can also confirm that it was not far from the monastery gate. There was at least one explosion at or near the Baron Hotel.”

Taliban official Suhail Shaheen said there were two explosions in a crowded area managed by the US military. “We strongly condemn this gruesome incident and will take all measures to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The Taliban did not confirm the identity of the attackers, but a spokesperson said it was the work of an “evil circle”. Once foreign troops leave, they will be suppressed.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soereide said on Thursday: “The airport’s gates are now closed and no more people can enter.”

General Wayne Ayer, the Canadian Chief of Defense Staff, told reporters: “We hope we can stay longer and save everyone.”

The US troops killed on Thursday were the first soldiers killed in Afghanistan in 18 months.
