250 surgeries are provided for free, and the rest are 50% off
Aster DM Healthcare has announced that it has performed 1,000 procedures on underprivileged patients through its 26 Aster hospitals in 7 countries, as well as several environmental initiatives. Of these, 25% or 250 procedures will be provided for free and the rest will be provided at a discount of more than 50%.
On its 36th anniversary, Aster DM Healthcare launched a year-long ‘Kindness is a Habit’ campaign under its CSR arm, Aster Volunteers. Under this initiative, the organization will encourage people around the world to make kindness and compassion a daily habit, and encourage their friends, family and society to do the same.
In another act of kindness to the environment, Aster DM Healthcare planted 500 Ghaf and Cedar trees in the UAE desert, while planting saplings at the Naseera Botanical Garden at Dr. Moopen’s Medical College in Wayanad, India. Solar panels have also been installed across the car park of the Medcare Multispecialty Hospital in Dubai. The energy generated by the panels will be used directly to power the hospital.
Dr Azad Moopen, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, said: “Since we started our journey as a healthcare provider in Dubai in 1987, giving back to those in need has been ingrained in our DNA. As we expanded into a large corporate organization, we exponentially increased our philanthropic activities through Aster Volunteers. With this in mind, we launched the Kindness is a Habit campaign.
Dr. Azad Muppen
“The year-long campaign will provide free and subsidized treatment to more than 1,000 patients in need. We also planted thousands of trees during the campaign. We also provide Free health checks. During the campaign, we will encourage others to join the cause and start a movement by sharing their acts of kindness on social media using the hashtag #Kindnessisahabit.”
The campaign will also encourage other businesses, youth, students, NGOs and ordinary people to join the cause. Through simple acts such as helping a blind person cross the street or taking an elderly patient in need to the hospital, individuals or families or groups or communities can come together to make kindness a habit. Those who want to encourage others to join the cause can share their act of kindness on social media and start a movement using the hashtag #Kindnessisahabit. They can also tag @astervolunteers and @asterdmhealthcare.
