ABU DHABI – Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of a new program within the Continuing and Executive Education Department (CEED) called the UAE Law Certificate, as part of the university’s passion for professional programs that support and develop students’ skills part and enhance their career prospects.
The University has developed the program entirely in Arabic for LLM or Bachelor degree holders. The certificate opens the door for graduates to employment opportunities in the private and public sectors, including law firms, judicial courts, federal and semi-federal entities dealing with the UAE judicial system, and all businesses dealing with UAE law.
In this regard, Prof. Silvia Serrano, Rector of the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, stated: “Our aim is to launch new programs in response to market demand, contributing to the skills development of students, which will also provide employees with highly skilled personnel, equipped with knowledge and capabilities to keep pace with accelerating global change and changing market dynamics.”
Dr Maïa-Oumeïma Hamrouni, associate professor of law at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and project leader, said: “During their studies, students will have the opportunity to discuss theoretical topics related to UAE law, including UAE history, constitutional law, contracts, family law and Islamic law. Sharia law, commercial law, criminal law, criminal procedure and civil law, as well as applied practical practice, qualify UAE students as judges, lawyers, barristers, commercial lawyers, civil servants or consultants in pursuit of successful careers and professionals careers and enable Arabic speakers to acquire specialized skills in the field.”
The UAE Law Certificate at the Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi is a 5-month program from February to July taught in Arabic by academics and legal practitioners. The program is designed to meet current market needs. All courses are prepared in collaboration with the academic team in Paris to meet the standard of excellence offered by the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
The Department of Continuing and Executive Education at the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi offers specialized courses designed for individuals and entities to facilitate professional development and career advancement.
