UAE Space Agency organizes workshop to discuss geospatial analysis platform

[ad_1]

The UAE Space Agency aims to support national and global challenges by providing access to satellite data to scientists, researchers, and government and private institutions.

The UAE Space Agency, in collaboration with Bayanat, organized a workshop to discuss the geospatial analysis platform for the Spatial Data Center and cover the project’s objectives, outputs and services.

The seminar was held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 13th.

Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, said: “As part of our efforts to raise awareness of the national projects and initiatives initiated by the UAE Space Agency, this workshop aims to introduce participants to the objectives, outputs, and geospatial analysis platform. The partnership will enable SMEs and entrepreneurs to design, develop and commercialize spatial data applications and value-added services (VAS).”

The workshop agenda included two technical sessions providing a comprehensive presentation of the project’s objectives, outputs and services, as well as a detailed explanation of satellite imagery analysis techniques and analysis reporting models. The workshop also included a presentation by the UAE Space Agency, emphasizing the strategic drivers to stimulate the private sector, particularly the space applications and value-added services market, and a presentation by Bayanat, emphasizing the project’s objectives, key requirements and implementation plan, including development and operational phases.

The technical session discussed production-grade artificial intelligence (AI) development for geospatial applications, and an introduction to synthetic aperture radar (SAR) analysis and applications. The agenda also includes an open discussion and question-and-answer session on the project.

The workshops were attended by federal and local government entities, start-ups, companies working on AI-driven smart applications and geospatial solutions, as well as academia and geospatial experts.

Through the platform, which is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2023, the UAE Space Agency aims to facilitate access to satellite data for scientists, researchers, government and private institutions, start-ups and community members to develop solutions in support of the nation and global challenges.

During the Abu Dhabi space debate, the UAE Space Agency and Bayanat signed a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement to design, develop and operate a geospatial analytics platform for space data centers, one of the transformational projects announced by the UAE government. These projects aim to create an innovative ecosystem for Earth monitoring applications by harnessing the power of data management and delivering analytical reports using dedicated satellites.
