US strikes Daesh in Afghanistan after deadly Kabul airport attack-News

[ad_1]

“The first sign was that we killed the target. We knew that there were no civilian casualties,” a military statement said.

The military said on Friday that the United States launched a drone attack on the “planners” of the Islamic State attack in eastern Afghanistan. The day before, a suicide bomb attack occurred at Kabul Airport, killing 13 US troops and dozens of Afghan civilians.

President Joe Biden vowed on Thursday that the United States will Hunt down those responsible for the attack, Said he has ordered the Pentagon to propose a plan to combat the perpetrators.

The US Central Command stated that the attack occurred in Nangarhar Province, east of Kabul and bordering Pakistan.

“The first sign is that we killed the target. We know that there were no civilian casualties,” the US military statement said. It did not specify whether the target was related to the airport attack.

An American official who asked not to be named stated that the attack was aimed at Islamic State militants who planned future attacks.

The official said that a Reaper drone that took off from the Middle East attacked the militant while he was in the car with an accomplice of the Islamic State. The official added that both are believed to have been killed.

Islamic State Khorasan (Daesh-K), An affiliated organization of militants who have fought against the U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq said they carried out Thursday’s attack, killing dozens of people, including Afghans who tried to leave the country.

In addition to 13 American soldiers killed in action, 18 wounded were airlifted to Germany.

There are approximately 5,000 US troops at Kabul Airport to help evacuate American citizens, Afghans at risk, and people from other countries before Biden’s deadline on Tuesday.

Thursday’s attack marked the first casualties of the US military in Afghanistan since February 2020, and the deadliest incident in Afghanistan in a decade.

“We will not forgive, we will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay,” Biden said.

When he talked about the dead American “hero”, he seemed to be holding back tears, his voice crackling with excitement. He ordered the flags of the White House and public buildings across the country to be reduced by half.

Biden defended his handling of the worst foreign policy crisis, saying it was ultimately his responsibility, and at the same time blamed his predecessor Donald Trump for the 2020 agreement negotiated by Trump and the Taliban.

The US military in Kabul has been looking forward to another attack from Islamic State militants.

Late Friday, the US Embassy warned that Americans should avoid going to the airport due to security threats, and that people at the monastery, east gate, north gate or the interior department should leave immediately.
