Sunil Narine has been named captain of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Knights for the UAE International League T20 season.

Narine has been with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL since 2012 and has developed a strong relationship with the Knight Riders team. He has been crucial to the team season after season and lifted trophies with the team in 2012 and 2014.

Narine is a winner with the ball who can hit anywhere in the lineup purely as a shooter. He has played over 400 T20 matches around the world.

Narine’s economy off the run ball is excellent and talks about his ability. He will have his KKR team-mate Andre Russell join his Caribbean teammates Ravi Rampaul, Akeal Hossein, Raymon Reifer and Kennar Lewis for the ILT20.

“I grew up on Knight Rider and Knight Rider grew on me, so it’s like a family.” Sunil Narin

Narine talks about how responsibilities change with the captain’s new role. He also praised the KKR family, saying they have always supported him.

“It’s a new challenge because now I have to think about how our whole team works, not just my game or my four passes. It’s something I’m really looking forward to. I’ve grown on Knight Riders , Knight Riders grew on me too, so it’s like a family. They have teams everywhere and I love being a part of that,” Narine said in a statement released by the franchise.

He added that the situation at the Emirates is very familiar to him, adding that he is happy to have a lot of senior players in the group, which will take some pressure off him.

“I’ve played a lot of cricket in the UAE, so I know the situation here pretty well. If you look at the ADKR squad, it’s a familiar setup, not a brand new XI that I have to get used to. So that gave me a lot of confidence. , know the strengths of my players. There are also a lot of senior people on the team, and I can feed back ideas and information to them. It will be fun, it’s been a long journey with the Knight Knight family, and I hope it’s a journey that never ends ,” He added.

The team rewarded his loyalty by awarding him the captaincy. The IL20 league kicks off on January 13 and Narine will add another trophy to the Knight Riders’ cabinet.
