As tourists and tourists in the UAE rush to leave the country or make other arrangements before the expiry of their visit visa period, travel agencies have started rolling out special visa change packages.

According to the travel agency, the move follows new regulations that came into effect earlier this week, ending the option allowing UAE tourist visa holders to extend their visas from home.

Here are some packages now available:

Departing by bus: from Dh599 to Dh850

Online travel agency Musafir.com offers bus visa change packages for AED 799.

Ajwah Tours offers tourists the option to change visa status by bus. The company offers 30-day visas starting from AED 599 and 60-day visas from AED 799. However, GM Malik Bedekar said buses were running at full capacity.

“With the rules coming in so suddenly, there’s a huge demand for buses,” he said.

“Now, by the end of this month, all my bookings are fully booked. Also, this option is only available for people with Indian, Philippine, Nepalese and Sri Lankan passports. Pakistani nationalities and people from the African continent are not allowed to leave by bus. “

A spokesperson for Anisha Tours and Travels said the visa renewal fee for traveling abroad to Oman by bus was Dh850. “However, we are only offering this option for those who need to leave urgently, as buses are almost completely full by the end of the month,” the agency’s Anish Mukil said.

Airport to airport: from Dh999 to Dh1,999

Musafir.com offers an airport-to-airport visa change service for Dh1,100.

Whereas Ajwah Tours offers 30-day visas allowing tourists to fly out and re-enter the country starting at AED 999, and 60-day visas starting at AED 1,999.

Tourists looking to fly to Oman can also opt for packages offered by Anisha Tours starting at Dh1,250.

Dubai-based Smart Travels is also offering a similar package to Oman on Fly Dubai, priced at Dh1,050 for a 30-day visa and Dh1,300 for a 60-day visa.

Domestic: from Dh1,800 to Dh2,200

A spokesperson for Musafir.com said the agency also offers a change of visit visa from within Dubai for Dh1,800.

Anisha Tours and Travels also offers tourists the option to renew their visa from within Dubai at a cost of Dh2,200.

Visitors must leave the country after the validity of the visa expires. Those who have found work in the country or plan to opt for a residency visa must also leave the country and re-enter the country for the change of status to take effect.

According to industry experts, the move is aimed at cracking down on those who remain in the country indefinitely on visitor visas.

Provisions for exiting the country to change visitor visa status have always existed. It was during the Covid-19 pandemic that the UAE changed its rules to allow visa status changes from within the country on humanitarian grounds.

Several other tour operators in the country said they expected to release similar packages in the coming days.
