Tadweer transfers to ADQ’s portfolio

ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, today announced the addition of Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) to its energy and utilities portfolio. By law issued by the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Tadweer was transformed into PJSC and the entire shareholding was transferred from the Government of Abu Dhabi to ADQ.

Tadweer joins ADQ’s renowned energy and utilities portfolio, complementing its efforts to shape the nation’s sustainable future and build a comprehensive portfolio of global champions across its diverse clusters. The transfer further strengthens ADQ’s position in supporting the deployment of circular economy principles and driving excellence across its expanding portfolio.

Hamad A. Alhammadi, Executive Director, Energy & Utilities Portfolio, ADQ, said: “Waste management is the cornerstone of a circular economy and contributes to a more sustainable future for the UAE. Tadweer is a valuable addition to our energy and utilities portfolio, especially Because it plays a vital role in capturing value through recycling and reusing waste. It complements our investments in key clusters in the local economy that already contribute to a sustainable environment. We look forward to supporting Tadweer’s future growth , and strive to provide a first-class service to the Abu Dhabi community and the region.”

Ali Al Dhaheri, Acting Director General of Tadweer, commented: “Becoming part of the ADQ portfolio is an important milestone in our transformation of Abu Dhabi’s approach to waste management. The development of an integrated waste management sector remains critical to the health and safety of Abu Dhabi and its communities. With the largest energy and utilities portfolio in Abu Dhabi, ADQ will strengthen our proposition, help us form new partnerships with its portfolio companies and achieve our goal of significantly reducing landfill waste over the next decade .”

Tadweer is the sole trustee for waste management in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, committed to growing an integrated waste management sector and becoming a leader in extracting value from waste to contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.

ADQ’s energy and utilities portfolio also includes Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC), Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) and Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC).
