Be extra careful when driving tomorrow (Sunday), because the students are going back to school and make sure that there are no traffic accidents on the first day of the new school year. The Dubai Police Headquarters has urged motorists to start its annual awareness campaign “No Day accident”.
The event was launched for the fourth consecutive year, inviting the public to join the Dubai Police to ensure road safety by complying with local traffic laws and regulations. This year, the event will also raise the awareness of motorists, parents, students and academic staff of the importance of complying with the Covid-19 pandemic prevention measures.
Brigadier General Saif Muhail Al Mazrui, Director of the Transport Department of the Dubai Police Department, said that this year’s event will be under the slogan of “Building Safer Roads Together”. He added that they regularly carry out road safety campaigns for all sectors of society to reduce traffic accidents, and most importantly, protect the lives of road users.
“We have successfully reduced the number of road-related deaths per 100,000 people. However, it is very important that we continue to maintain safety awareness, especially during the school year when our dear students are transported,” Brig Al Mazroui pointed out .
Butti Ahmad bin Darwish Al Falasi, Head of Safety Awareness of Dubai Police, emphasized that the campaign has proven successful in the past three years, achieving zero deaths on the first day of school, raising public traffic awareness, and providing them with opportunities to interact with Together, the Dubai Police achieves its goal of maintaining road safety and security.
Al Falasi emphasized that the event will raise awareness of the importance of observing traffic laws and speed limits, wearing seat belts, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, not using mobile phones while driving, and giving way to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
