DP World Tour has announced a new 10-year deal with Dubai’s Jumeirah Golf Estates, which will continue to host the season-ending DP World Tour Championship until 2031.
Managed by wasl Asset Management Group, Jumeirah Golf Estates is a world-class residential golf destination with two internationally renowned championship golf courses, Earth and Fire, operated by Dubai Golf, a subsidiary of wasl.
The DP World Tour Championship, the fifth and final Rolex Series event of the season, has been held at the Globe Court since 2009 and has served as the backdrop for several of the most iconic moments in DP World Tour history, That included stars like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick and Colin Morikawa taking to the venue to triumph. The Globe Course is 7,706 yards from the championship tees and holds a course record of 62 yards – set by Justin Rose in 2012.
On Sunday at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Rory McIlroy topped the DP World Tour season rankings for the fourth time in his career, becoming just the second player to top both the DP World Tour and PGA seasons in the same tour.
Commenting on the extended agreement, DP World Tour Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Commercial Officer Guy Kinnings said: “We have been receiving very positive feedback from our players and spectators regarding the facilities at Jumeirah Golf Estate and the 18th hole on the Earth Course. Feedback, a forbidding par 5 surrounded by water, has become the iconic backdrop for our season finale.
“This new long-term agreement allows us to plan ahead and ensure that future DP World Tour Championships continue to set new standards for fan engagement. A relationship that continues to place Dubai as a central destination in the annual sports calendar.”
Mustafa Al Hashimi, Chief Hospitality Officer, wasl Hospitality & Leisure, commented: “Dubai Golf is delighted to extend its long-term partnership with the DP World Tour at Jumeirah Golf Estate until 2031. Golf is a game loved by people in Dubai, And Dubai is known for hosting world-class events, including the season-ending DP World Tour Championship at the iconic Globe Stadium.” – trade arab news agency
