Abu Dhabi: G2 Esports won the BLAST Premier World Finals, the largest and most high-profile Counter-Strike esports tournament in the Middle East, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

In front of an energized crowd that included passionate esports and gaming fans as well as first-time esports spectators, G2 Esports rose to the occasion to defeat Team Liquid in the final of the prestigious global end-of-season tournament.

The five-day tournament took place in the UAE capital following a landmark three-year partnership between BLAST and AD Gaming, the government’s initiative to pioneer gaming and esports in Abu Dhabi, attracting eight The best esports organization with a prize pool of USD 1 million.

As Abu Dhabi raises the bar for esports in the Middle East, the event also includes stage shows for some of the best local teams, including Team Falcons and Nasr Esports. It was a landmark moment as it was the first time that Abu Dhabi hosted the Elite Global Championship, hosting the BLAST Premier World Finals.

In the finals, Justin Savage (jks) led G2 to victory in a thrilling showdown with a strong performance, ending the year as Counter-Strike World Champions.

He said: “It’s a great feeling to win the World Finals. We’ve all been in a positive frame of mind this week, everyone played their minds and it’s great to win. The crowd was really good today and the Etihad Arena was really good. Cool. All the fans really made a big noise and created a great energy for the game.”

In addition to competitions on the main stage, the event also featured some of the leading gaming stars, influencers and content creators in the Middle East gaming scene. BanderitaX, Saudi Arabia’s top content creator with 12 million followers, and Galaxy Racer’s Fortnite players “Souriano” and “g1ntl” were in attendance, signing autographs and getting selfies with fans, along with other major players in the region.

As part of BLAST’s ongoing efforts to help accelerate the growth of the region’s esports ecosystem and attract new audiences, a Gaming Fan Zone has been created to give viewers the opportunity to learn more about the booming gaming industry, which is expected to see the MENA region by 2025 will grow to $5 billion.

It features exhibitors from technology and education organizations, as well as regional teams including Team Falcons, Nasr Esports and Nigma Galaxy, to showcase the benefits of gaming and esports and the opportunities they create.
