Airbnb launches one-stop center for remote workers in Dubai

[ad_1]

Airbnb, an online marketplace operator specializing in short-term homestays, has partnered with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) to launch the Dubai Remote Work Hub, a one-stop shop for aspiring remote workers.

Anyone wishing to live and work in Dubai can now use the hub to find local long-term listings, inspiration and useful information on entry requirements and visa policies, the Emirates News Agency reported. WAM.

Earlier this year, Airbnb launched its Live and Work Anytime program to identify some of the most remote employee-friendly destinations in the world. Dubai was chosen as one of 20 global destinations, alongside the Canary Islands, Thailand and the Caribbean.

The Live and Work Anywhere initiative will see Airbnb and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism promote the city to remote workers seeking accommodation and long-stay guidance.

Velma Corcoran, Head of Airbnb Middle East and Africa, said: “Dubai is a global leader in facilitating remote working. As this trend continues to accelerate, we want to work together to make it easier for people to enjoy the new flexibility of working and traveling , and help the city capitalize on the economics of this new type of tourism.”

Millions of people are now more flexible about where they live and work. Around one in five guests globally report using Airbnb for remote work while traveling in 2021 – a trend that continues into Q1 2022, with long-term occupancy at an all-time high, an increase from Q1 2019 more than double.

In the first three months of 2022, searches for international solo travel for long stays in the UAE have also increased by more than 280% compared to the same period in 2019. Dubai ranks among the top 3 cities in the world to live in for executive nomads in the 2022 Savills Executive Nomad Index.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism and Business Marketing, said: “The combination of Dubai’s global connectivity and pro-business ecosystem with visa-friendly reforms underscores the city’s status as a major hub for remote workers, building on Dubai’s legacy of nurturing businesses. Commitment to grow and meet the needs of today’s talent.

“The city is already home to more than 200 nationalities who enjoy unmatched career opportunities and lifestyles. From world-class retail experiences to Michelin-starred restaurants and local cuisine, sandy beaches, theme parks and a cultural scene second to none, Dubai It’s getting ready to take on the world again, this time with Airbnb.”

Airbnb recently released a guide for governments and destinations outlining recommendations for how communities can benefit financially from an increase in remote workers. Airbnb’s Guide to Living and Working Anywhere: How Communities Can Benefit from Remote Workers is based on insights, data, and experiences from Airbnb’s work with 20 destinations with remote work potential, as well as a review of remote worker programs around the world.
