Conares, the UAE’s second largest privately-owned steel manufacturer, has announced the inauguration of its prepainted steel plant in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) in Dubai.
The state-of-the-art facility was developed at the AED 150 million (US$ 40.85 million) site at the Conares site in Jafza South.
The factory was inaugurated by Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai Ministry of Economy and Tourism, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group, Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World UAE, and Jafza, Chairman and CEO of Conares. CEO Bharat Bhatia, and other dignitaries and senior executives of Conares.
Conares is the only privately-owned steel manufacturer in the UAE with four distinct product verticals. The company exports to 26 countries on six continents and its assets are currently estimated to be worth Dh2.5 billion, a statement said.

Bhatia said: “We are proud to launch our color coating line, which is the most advanced facility of its kind in the steel fabrication industry in the region. %. We also plan to increase dispatches by 5% to 7% this year.”

The Color Coated Steel Mill has the capacity to produce 100,000 metric tons (MT) of color coated galvanized steel coil, strip and plate per annum, and will export the product to several international markets to meet the growing demand in the UAE and the region, in addition to manufacturing.
Conares brings to the market a diverse range of products including rebar, pipe and colour-coated coils. Its growth and presence in international markets has been significant and continues to evolve with the needs of the region. Conares’ vision is to increase its manufacturing capacity to 3 million tons by 2030. The way Conares develops export markets is in line with this goal.
The plant will produce pre-painted coils in thicknesses from 0.18 to .9 millimeters. The factory also incorporates advanced sustainable technologies, which reduce the factory’s carbon footprint. Conares was earlier awarded a sustainable certificate from UK CARES which audited our facilities to demonstrate this.
