The figure of honor of the Krewe of Jeanne d’Arc will join the group in the Twelfth Night procession to mark the 611th birthday of the Maid of Orleans.
Emmeline L. Meyer, a 17-year-old Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans senior, will play a saint from French history. The daughter of Andrea and Kenny Meyers, she was honored in a competition to select young women who represent the qualities of St. Joan.
Joseph Dunn, who will become King Charles VII, is director of public relations and marketing for Laura: a Creole heritage site in Louisiana, one of the former plantations along the Mississippi River. He is active in the French National Order of the United States and the National Order of Merit Chevalier, where he has been recognized for his efforts to promote and celebrate French heritage.
Charles’ mother-in-law, Queen Yolande, will serve as general manager of WWOZ 90.7FM Beth Arroyo Utterback. Crew noted Alterback’s efforts to promote community and culture.
The royals were recently announced in a speech by founder Amy Kirk Duvoisin and co-captains Antoinette de Alteriis and Amanda Helm.
The parade passes through the French Quarter on January 6 at 7pm, stopping for toasts and king cake along the way.
