Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto also raised the issue in a recent phone call with his US counterpart, Anthony Blinken.

“According to a statement, Blinken expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the recent terrorist attack and emphasized the United States’ strong support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism,” Geo-News reported.

A senior U.S. military commander recently said the U.S. is concerned about the threat posed by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) to the South Asian nation’s security amid a surge in violence by the illegal group in the country.

“We value our bilateral relationship and welcome the opportunity to expand our cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as counterterrorism and border security,” General Michael E. quote said.

General Kurila made the remarks in response to a question on whether the United States may provide support to Pakistan to counter terrorist threats.

The comments came against the backdrop of the Central Command commander’s visit to Pakistan this month, where he met with senior military leaders and observed conditions and operations near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Khyber Pass.

During the visit, the two leaders discussed security cooperation, security along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, the threat posed by terrorist groups in the region, ongoing operations, and opportunities to enhance cooperation between Central Command and the Pakistani military.

During the visit, Admiral Kurilia went to Peshawar to visit the Western Army Command. The XI Corps is the Pakistan Army unit assigned to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and is responsible for security around half of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. (Arnie)
