Paris shooting suspect ‘told investigators to hate foreigners’ | World News

The man suspected of shooting dead three Kurds in Paris this week told investigators about his “hate for foreigners,” prosecutors said.

The suspected shooter, 69, was arrested on Friday Two men, one woman shot dead at Kurdish cultural center In the busy 10th arrondissement of the French capital.

Three other people were wounded, one of whom then managed to disarm the gunman, the Paris prosecutor’s office said.

Two of them remain in hospital but are in stable condition.

Prosecutor Laure Beccuau said in a statement that the suspect said during questioning that a 2016 burglary at his home sparked “a hatred of foreigners that became completely pathological.”

The office had already said Saturday that a suspected racist motive had been added to the initial murder and weapons crime charges.

It also said the man had recently been detained awaiting trial in connection with a saber attack on a Paris migrant camp a year ago.

Kurdish anger at police

The killings have rocked a community preparing to mark the anniversary of the unsolved murders of three militants 10 years ago.

During Saturday’s protests, Some demonstrators clashed with police.

Kurdish representatives called for Friday’s shooting to be considered a terrorist attack.

The suspect, who has not been named, was detained at the scene and was transferred to a psychiatric facility on Saturday for treatment.

He was then released from hospital and police custody resumed on Sunday afternoon, the prosecutor’s office said in a later update.

He will face an investigating judge on Monday.

In earlier questioning, the man described himself as depressed and suicidal.

Prosecutors said in a statement that he had planned to set himself on fire after the attack.

Two of them remain in hospital but are in stable condition.
