Dubai Airports has issued a travel warning for passengers with groundbreaking precautions.

Nearly two million passengers are expected to pass through Dubai International Airport (DXB) between today and around January 3, 2023, with January 2 expected to be the busiest day.

As a result, Dubai International Airport will be exceptionally busy for the remainder of the holiday and New Year, prompting Dubai Airports to issue a travel alert.

Average daily passenger traffic is expected to reach 245,000 passengers over the next eight days; passenger traffic on January 2, 2023 may exceed 257,000 passengers.

Operators urge passengers to plan their trips to and through the airport and follow simple travel tips to ensure a smooth airport experience.

DXB’s average daily ridership has almost fully returned to pre-pandemic levels on the back of a strong recovery throughout 2022, making this latest seasonal peak one of the busiest since 2019.

December is a busy month for DXB due to the seasonal tourist influx, the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Doha and Dubai’s status as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.

Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines, regulatory authorities and commercial and service partners to ensure a smooth airport experience for arriving and departing passengers.

Simple Tips to Beat the Holiday Rush

  • For those traveling as a family, children over the age of 12 can use Smart Gates to expedite the passport control process
  • The road to the airport can be congested during peak hours, so it’s best to plan some extra time to get to and through the airport
  • If you are flying from Terminal 1, please be at the airport at least 3 hours before departure
  • Start your journey smoothly using online and self-service options wherever possible
  • Passengers departing from Terminal 3 can use Emirates’ convenient early and self-service check-in facilities
  • Weigh your luggage at home, check your documents in advance, prepare for security checks, and save a lot of time at the airport
  • Use the Dubai Metro to and from the airport.Dubai Metro, which has stations at DXB’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, will operate 24/7 from 31 December 2022 to 1 January 2023
  • Say goodbye to home as only passengers are usually allowed in the terminal during peak hours
  • Friends and family are advised to use the airport’s designated car parks or valet parking services to accommodate their guests comfortably, as access to the arrivals forecourt in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 is restricted to public transport and other authorized vehicles .
