Monrovia – The Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Republic of Liberia signed a bilateral cooperation agreement on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in Bobolu City, Gwapolu County.
According to the agreement, the two countries will develop economic and technological cooperation on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and mutual benefit.
The agreement further states that cooperation between the parties shall cover the following areas: trade in goods and services, investment, agriculture, including agro-processing activities, livestock, fishing and acquisition or leasing of agricultural land, energy and renewable energy, mining and industry, infrastructure, construction and real estate, tourism, telecommunications, transportation.
“Parties may decide to cooperate in other areas that appear to be more beneficial, taking into account the priorities of the Parties’ national economic policies.
“In order to implement economic and technical cooperation under this Agreement, the Parties shall encourage relevant professional entities and business communities to explore the possibility of implementing projects in various fields of economic and technical cooperation,” the agreement states.
The agreement further mentions that the contracting parties shall provide special facilities and incentives to investors from both countries if such actions are in accordance with the existing laws of the two countries and the international obligations and commitments of the two countries.
“The Contracting Parties shall encourage their business communities to participate in international fairs and exhibitions held in the two countries;
Support and encourage mutual visits of business delegations,” the agreement reads.
HE Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, member of the Regnant family and Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, United Arab Emirates, and HE Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chief of Cabinet of the Republic of Liberia signed on behalf of the UAE and Liberia respectively.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the newly built Emirate of Liberia Hospital in Bopolu, Gwapolu County. The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, and His Excellency Dr. Aysha Sultan Aldhaheri, Executive Director of the UAE Army Military Health Service, United Arab Emirates.
