Five people were convicted of impersonating police officers and robbing investors of Dh1.1 million.

The case dates back to March last year, when the investor filed a report claiming Dh1.1 million was stolen from him and his cousin.

According to the victim’s statement, on the night of the incident, he heard a loud noise near the door of the apartment. When he went to check the door, many people tried to enter the apartment. Despite the victim and his cousin trying to close the door, the intruders broke in and entered the apartment.

The robbers entered and attacked the victim inside the apartment. They stole Dh1.1 million from the drawer and fled.

According to case files, the investigative team identified the gang members and arrested one of them before they left the country at Dubai airport. He admitted his crime and informed police of the others, who were subsequently arrested and brought before justice.

The Dubai Criminal Court convicted them all and sentenced them to five years in prison before being deported. They were also jointly fined the value of the stolen money. The appeals court upheld the original sentence.
