Atlantic Council to host seventh annual Global Energy Forum in Abu Dhabi, January 14-15

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The 7th annual Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 14-15 January 2023 to shape the global energy agenda for the coming year and examine evolving energy shifts long-term impact on energy systems. This year’s forum will be particularly important as key climate and energy strategy issues will be at the center of preparations for the United Nations Conference of the Parties to Climate Change (COP28), which the United Arab Emirates will also host at the end of the year. The seventh Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum will be held again under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Headlines will include John Kerry, the US President’s special envoy for climate issues and former US Secretary of State.

With the ongoing impact of the Ukraine crisis on the energy transition, the 2023 Forum will focus specifically on the challenge of simultaneously managing energy security priorities and decarbonization efforts. The forum will once again be part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a global event supporting climate action and collaboration on net zero commitments.

The forum is organized in partnership with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala Investment Company, TAQA and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC), with CNBC as international media partner.

His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, United Arab Emirates, said: “As hosts of COP28, we are honored to welcome participants of the Global Energy Forum to the United Arab Emirates to discuss the ongoing energy transition. energy initiatives to achieve the global sustainable development goals and tackle the devastating effects of climate change. This year’s forum provides a unique opportunity to discuss not only the energy agenda for the coming year, but also to start a dialogue on the current UN Climate Change Conference. We look forward to your participation in the Global Energy Forum 2023 in Abu Dhabi.”

From the lingering fallout from the conflict in Ukraine to efforts to avert a global financial crisis, now is the most important time for an open and frank dialogue to determine the best path to a net-zero emissions future.

Building on the momentum from the 2022 Forum, the 2023 Forum will return to a hybrid format. It will feature a global reach of face-to-face networking, panels, workshops and receptions as well as virtual programming in Abu Dhabi.
