Rusalem — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates next week, Channel 12 reported on Tuesday.

While the decision came hours after National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to Har Habayis sparked condemnation, including from the UAE, it was not the official reason for the change.

The delay was reportedly to allow the two governments to work together to ensure a successful visit at a later date, but no date was specified.

In its statement, the UAE “reaffirmed its firm position that it is necessary to provide full protection for Al-Aqsa Mosque and stop serious and provocative violations there.”

It “emphasizes the need to respect Jordan’s regulatory role over the Holy Land and the Endowment, in accordance with international law and current historical circumstances, without compromising the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Authority and the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” and calls on Israel to “take responsibility for reducing escalation and precarious responsibility.”

Netanyahu is meeting with Crown Prince and ruler of the emirate, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in what will be his first public visit to the Gulf state.
