On a day when heavy rain and thunderstorms battered parts of the country, hundreds of residents flocked to Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Festival to enjoy the first weekly fireworks display of 2023 and other attractions.
Light rain fell across Abu Dhabi city and suburbs, as well as the eastern and western parts of the emirate on Saturday. Visitors to the Al Wathba festival enjoyed cooling and light rain.
“It rained a few hours ago, but overall the weather was good. We enjoyed it. There were loads of tourists. The fireworks display was fantastic,” said M Zainulabdin, an Abu Dhabi resident who visited the festival with his family .
In addition, there are several cultural and entertainment programs and activities for all members of the family.
On Sunday, the festival will hold a raffle for luxury cars and other prizes. Anyone who spends more than AED 50 in any store, restaurant or Fun Fair City will receive a raffle ticket and a Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan raffle ticket.
These sweepstakes will continue until the end of the festival on March 18th.
On New Year’s Eve, the festival broke three records, with an incredible fireworks display lasting just over 40 minutes and a fourth with a spectacular drone show.
