US State Counselor Derek Chollet will travel to the United Arab Emirates from January 8-10, where he will engage with key UAE officials bilaterally on the latest regional and global developments, including Libya, according to the State Department.
The State Department said in a statement that Chollet will travel to the UAE as part of an interagency delegation to the first meeting of the Negev Forum Working Group.
He will co-chair the regional security working group and hold consultations with representatives of the governments of Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, the statement said.
Discussions will focus on advancing initiatives to encourage regional integration and cooperation, it added.
“During these multilateral meetings, he will engage bilaterally with key UAE officials on the latest regional and global developments, including Russia’s wars against Ukraine, Libya and Iran, among others,” the statement said.
“Counselor Chollet will then travel to North Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia from January 11-13. The latter part of Counselor Chollet’s trip is designed to underscore America’s enduring commitment to peace, stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.”
