Key Player – Theertha Satish

The 18-year-old UAE captain has played 33 senior T20I matches and has scored 823 points with an average of 35.78 and a hit rate of 109.58.

The UAE’s top scorer in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, Theertha had an impressive run in last year’s ACC Women’s T20 Championship, which the UAE went on to win.

The left-hander was man of the match in the final against Malaysia, scoring half a century away from the top of the table in the chase.

Theertha was the only batsman to hit more than 100 in the major Asian Cup tournament, where the UAE advanced for the first time, and the only 50-run score by an Emirati player in the tournament.

Her talent was evident from the start when she won the Man of the Match award on her UAE debut against Malaysia in 2021, scoring 46 goals from 48 after finishing third.

The captain will play a huge role in leading a group of talented women to the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

expect

With heavyweight India and hosts South Africa in their group, the UAE have their job done and will look to start their campaign with a win against Scotland.

It is worth mentioning that there are 8 players with senior T20I experience in the UAE team, and the UAE senior team sent a considerable number of young players in the recent Women’s Asian Cup.

“The UAE women’s football team has had great success in 2022 and through these successes we are now a part of history by participating in the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup,” said former Hong Kong all-rounder and head coach Najib Amar.

“However, we have no intention of relying on these successes. Our coaches and high-performing team continue to invest in the development of each player and we will approach every game with an unwavering winning mentality.”

The UAE will target the top three and have the resources to make it happen, with a squad featuring big names like Vaishnave Mahesh, Induja Nandakumar and Samaira Dharnidharka, all of whom have made more than 30 T20I appearances for the senior side.
