The meeting of the Negev Forum Steering Committee and Working Groups opened this morning (Monday, January 9, 2023) in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. High-level delegations from six member states will attend: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, the United States and Israel.
This is the third meeting of the Negev Forum Steering Committee (the first in Bahrain in June 2022 and the second in October 2022 as a virtual meeting). This is the first (physical) meeting of the Working Group.
The Israeli delegation, led by Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aron Ushpiz, included senior representatives from the ministries of agriculture, health, defense, intelligence, tourism, energy, education, economy, as well as the Water Authority and the National Security Council.
At the meeting, delegations will prepare for the Negev Forum foreign ministers’ summit, which is expected to take place in Morocco in the coming months and will be attended by Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.
Within this framework, the working groups will draw up a list of projects in the six areas under their responsibility and present them to the Negev Forum Foreign Ministers at their next meeting.

The Negev Forum was established at the Negev Summit in Sde Boker in March 2022 as part of the implementation process of the Abraham Accords. Working groups were also identified at the Negev summit with the aim of proposing concrete projects to be promoted by member states.

- healthy
- regional security
- Education and Tolerance
- water and food security
- travel
- vitality
