The first Negev Forum working group meeting kicked off today in Abu Dhabi with representatives of six member states, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Israel and the United States, with the aim of further building bridges of communication and dialogue to promote peaceful coexistence across the region.
The Negev Forum Working Group meeting is an outcome of the Negev Ministerial Conference in March 2022. The Negev Forum aims to strengthen cooperation among countries to advance the interests of the people of the region, including the Palestinian people. The UAE continues to support the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Negev Forum was held against the background of the “Abraham Agreement”, and will serve as a regional cooperation platform established by the six member states based on the common goal of promoting regional growth, stability and prosperity; Support the interests of countries in the region and promote sustainable development; Provide solutions to existing challenges and create a better future for future generations.
The working group meeting is expected to last two days, during which opportunities for joint cooperation in several areas will be discussed. The participating countries pledged to advance joint efforts in areas such as food security, water technology, clean energy, tourism, healthcare, education, coexistence and regional security.
