In a major push to make Abu Dhabi a medical tourism hub, one of the world’s most experienced plastic surgeon and sought-after limb lengthening specialist has opened his first clinic in the region in Burjer Medical City.
Dror Paley’s Paley Middle East Clinic was launched in partnership with Burjeel Holdings to become a center for complex procedures in the region by providing specialized orthopedic care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr. Paley has performed approximately 20,000 limb lengthening and reconstructive procedures.
A triple fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, he was also recognized for his expertise in deformity reconstruction and joint preservation of the upper and lower extremities in children and adults.
“I’m really excited about what this clinic will mean to patients around the world who unfortunately suffer from various orthopedic problems. Since I started my career, I’ve had the privilege of being a medical tourism doctor. I’ve had people from over 100 Patients from multiple countries and all 50 states come to my practice in the United States,” said Dr Paley, founder and director of the Paley Institute in Florida, U.S. Department of Health – Abu Dhabi .
“Orthopedic care is needed everywhere. I specialize in treating a lot of children and adults with genetics, birth defect issues and limb deformities. I have treated many patients in the US from this area. Now, we will be able to provide these types of treatments here, ’ he told a select group of reporters.
In 2018, Dr. Paley expanded into Europe with the opening of the Paley European Institute in Poland. His practice is known for diagnosing and treating specific orthopedic conditions, including congenital limb deformities, post-traumatic limb disorders, bone healing problems, bone defects, skeletal dysplasia, metabolic disorders, foot deformities, peripheral nerve disorders and various other developmental deformity. Save diabetic foot from amputation
Dr Paley stressed that other medical institutions in the UAE already offer some specialties, but his clinic will “add value” through treatments not available in the region.
“Diabetes is very high in this area and it causes all kinds of foot problems. It leads to a condition called Charcot foot or neuropathic foot, where you lose feeling in your bones. So, you end up with Destroys and damages joints. We may be number one in the world when it comes to treating neuropodia.”
Dr Paley hopes to save diabetic feet from amputation and provide support for amputees.
“We’re going to save the diabetic foot when most other people have amputations. We’re treating people who’ve had amputations, like above-the-knee amputations. They’ve got to wear big sockets and be heavy and so on. The newest thing is called osseointegration, where you go through the skin You put a metal prosthesis on the end of the bone, and then you now attach the prosthesis to the metal, directly to the bone, like a dental implant. Now you’re doing the same thing and it’s just not possible here,” Dr. Paley said. He is also the founder and director of the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics and the director of the International Center for Limb Lengthening at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, USA.
The launch was attended by Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, along with John Sunil, Chief Executive Officer, Safeer Ahamed, Chief Operating Officer and Omran AlKhoori, President, Business Development.
Dr Shamsheer believes initiatives like the new clinic will make Abu Dhabi a medical tourism capital.
“It’s a great day for us. I thank Dr. Paley for his trust in us. I hope we get justice. We will give all our support to make Abu Dhabi the capital of medical tourism. We hope to be here for people from Serving patients in different parts of the world.”
Along with Dr. Paley, a medical team of orthopedic specialists including Dr. David Feldman (hip and spine surgeon and joint contractures specialist), Dr. Michael Uglow (pediatric orthopedic specialist specializing in limb length and deformity correction, feet and ankles) Surgery) and Dr Irshad Waheed (a plastic surgeon specializing in limb lengthening and deformity correction) will be at the clinic.
