Dubai: idle, The much-anticipated memoir by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has just been released in the UAE and quickly pulled from shelves.
Steve Jones, general manager of the Kinokuniya Middle East book chain, told Gulf News: “We received the book yesterday. About 100 copies were sold on the first day of the mall store, and that number could be even more today.”
He said the hardcover book was priced at Dh160 in stores and Dh144 online at a special promotional price.
Another bookstore chain also confirmed the book’s release.
“The book is available. We received it this morning,” the Virgin Megastore store manager at Mercatao Mall said by phone.
Other bookstores, including Magrudys and Borders, said they expected to start selling the book this week.
“The book will be available to us in a few days,” said Sushil Kumar, assistant manager at Borders.
A customer service executive at Magrudy’s also said they expect to receive the book by Friday.
Spare launches worldwide on January 10, from Penguin Random House.
The 416-page book is available in digital, paperback and hardcover formats and has been translated into 16 languages.
Prince Harry’s memoir has revealed many times about the British royal family, including his father King Charles, stepmother Camilla and brother Prince William. It goes on sale Tuesday, January 10th.
