Agra (Uttar Pradesh) [India]January 11 (ANI): Guyana President Mohammad Irrfan Ali visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Wednesday during his visit to India.
The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The South American president arrived in India on January 8 to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a media briefing.
During his visit to India from January 8 to 14, the president will visit six cities, Delhi, Indore, Bengaluru, Kanpur, Agra and Mumbai, MEA Consulting said.

The President of Guyana arrived at the Taj Mahal to the sound of gongs and drums and a specially organized dance performance. The president was in a minivan as he and other delegates were ushered into a show marked by a dance performance.
Ali then went to the Taj Mahal, clicked on the image and inspected the monument’s marbles.
Ali was the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) scheduled for January 8-10 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held extensive discussions with the Presidents of Guyana and Suriname Chandrika Pessa de Santoshi on the sidelines of the PBD General Assembly on Monday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Modi and the President of Guyana held comprehensive discussions on a wide range of issues including energy, infrastructure development, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology and innovation, and defense cooperation.

According to the MEA statement, the two leaders recalled the 180-year historical bond of friendship between the peoples of India and Guyana and agreed to further deepen this friendship.
Guyana President Mohammad Irfaan Ali said that India has always been a leader in technology, renewable energy and sustainable development, and he pledged bilateral cooperation in several areas.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, the President of Guyana stated his plans to position his country as a regional leader in food and energy security. He also added that Guyana aspires to act as a regional player in the Caribbean and Latin American regions.
He highlighted the potential for greater cooperation with India and said he was visiting the country to engage with the Indian government and develop strategies in important areas. (Arnie)
