Islamabad [Pakistan], January 15 (ANI): Pakistan Justice Instigation (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Sunday refused to meet the party’s estranged leader, The Nation reported. He directed PTI members to respond to the notice of reason for the performance issued to them for not present in the vote of confidence in Central Secretariat Punjab Chief Minister Chowdhury Parvez Elahi.

Former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan issued instructions to disgruntled party members in the presence of party general secretary Asad Omar, The Nation reported. Baligh Ur Rehman, Governor of Punjab Province, tweeted: “I have decided not to be involved in the process leading to the dissolution of the Punjab Parliament. I would rather let the Constitution & Laws run their course. Doing so will not hinder any legal process as the Constitution clearly provides the way forward .”

On Thursday, Punjab CM Parvez Elahi formally advised the provincial governor to dissolve parliament, Dawn newspaper reported. On December 17, PTI chairman Imran Khan announced that his Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government would dissolve parliament to make way for new elections.

Meanwhile, PTI vice-president Fawad Chaudhry criticized the governor on January 14 for removing himself from the process. He tweeted: “This is not the first time you have trampled on a democratic decision to please your undemocratic masters, your decision is against the dignity of your office, however, 48 hours have passed and the Punjab assembly has been constitutional. Now PeeDM will face the field.”

In another tweet, Fawad Chaudhry expressed his gratitude to PTI members for their support in paving the way for elections, “Thank you so much Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab Assembly members for refusing to threaten and offer tens of crores and pave the way for general elections, we ethnic minorities and Congresswoman’s character deserves to be written in gold letters, thank you very much.” (Arnie)
