The department is equipped with experienced first aid and trauma care experts to provide round-the-clock medical treatment for work-related injuries
Local authorities have set up a dedicated emergency department to serve the Mussafah industrial estate, serving thousands of blue-collar workers and residents.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) has issued a license to Lifecare Hospital, which complies with all requirements to provide urgent care services to residents of the emirate.
Staffed by experienced first aid and trauma care specialists, the new unit will provide 24/7 medical care and treatment for industrial and occupational construction site injuries, including 999 cases requiring immediate medical attention.
As part of the opening ceremony, senior officials from the Mussaffa municipality and the Mussaffa police waved flags at the ambulances. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Hadir of Musaffah Police, Hameed Al Marzouqi, Manager of Mussafah Municipality, John Sunil, Chief Executive Officer of Burjeel Holdings and Safeer Ahamed, Chief Operating Officer.
Lifecare Hospital, a subsidiary of Burjeel Holdings, has been serving industry through the treatment of complex and chronic diseases for the past nine years. It provides treatment for cardiac emergencies, strokes, asthma attacks and allergic reactions that occur on industrial and occupational construction sites.
The newly established Emergency Department is able to handle an increased number of cases ranging from minor to life-threatening workplace injuries and provides treatment for all medical and surgical emergencies.
The department specializes in wound management, heat stroke, burns, scalds, fractures, dislocations, crush injuries, head injuries and spinal trauma. It was assisted by the pre-hospital ambulance service, which provided CPR and ground stabilization.
It has emergency physicians, nurses and support staff, as well as specialists who provide services in cardiac care, neurosurgery, pulmonology, neurology, otolaryngology, urology and internal medicine.
Dr. Hussein Kzar Basi Al-Shamri, Head of Emergency Medicine Advisory Unit, said the launch of the emergency service is another step towards creating an advanced healthcare ecosystem in and around the Mussafah Industrial Belt.
“We have been providing 24/7 emergency care to Musaffah’s industrial workforce and community for many years. We use advanced medical and diagnostic technology and evidence-based protocols to deliver care quickly, efficiently and accurately, while ensuring faster, more effective rehabilitation. By obtaining the licence, we will be able to provide urgent care to people in the region with a team of highly trained and dedicated specialists,” said Dr Al-Shamri.
The hospital is strategically located in the heart of the industrial zone of Abu Dhabi, with a population of approximately 500,000 people. It is well connected to the west and the Al Dhafra region.
“We are committed to bringing the most advanced care, technology and medical expertise to our community. We thank the DoH [its] Support and guidance for the start-up of the department. Our goal is to set the standard in emergency care,” Sunil said.
Ahmed added: “We want to save many lives of our community members. We will ensure the best possible care for everyone.”
As part of its outreach program, the hospital will conduct awareness campaigns about emergency care and healthcare screenings in the industrial area.
