World News | ‘India’s efforts bear fruit’: Ex-Army intelligence chief lauds UN designation of Pakistan-based Makki as global terrorist

New Delhi [India]Jan. 17 (ANI): A former Army senior intelligence officer was killed on Tuesday.

The Pakistani government earlier released the terrorist even after a court found him guilty, the former commander of the Indian Army’s top secret technical support department said. In an interview with ANI, Colonel (ret) Hunny Bakshi said this was Pakistan’s way of “starting the trial of terrorists all over the world” and then working towards his acquittal.

“It is very good news that Pakistan-based LeT terrorist Abdul Rahman Maki is the brother-in-law of (26/11 mastermind) Hafiz Saeed and second-in-law of the terrorist group. Handlebar, has been declared a ‘global terrorist’ by the UN Security Council,” Col Bakshi said.

“Makki was responsible for multiple terrorist attacks in India and was behind the 26/11 terrorist attack. Even Pakistan’s anti-terrorism court punished him in 2020. Unfortunately, however, this has always been the way Pakistan has started judging the world Take a look and acquit them,” he said.

“He was released after being fined 50,000 PKR (Pakistan Rupee). Finally, when the United Nations declared him a global terrorist today, Pakistan is now demanding conclusive evidence to designate him as a ‘global terrorist’. What is the state court since Having already found him guilty and fined him PKR 50,000, do we need conclusive evidence?” he asked.

The Technical Support Department (TSD), a military intelligence service, established after the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks in 2010 was later disbanded.

Bakshi praised the federal government’s continued efforts to place Makki on the global terror watch list, “I congratulate the people and my government that their efforts have now borne fruit.”

The listing was seen as a major victory for New Delhi after China blocked a joint Indian-US proposal in June 2022 for the UN Security Council to list Markey as a “global terrorist”. Earlier, Beijing had placed a last-minute “technical hold” on a joint proposal to place Makki on the UN Security Council’s 1267 list of terrorists linked to Al Qaeda and ISIL. Beijing’s move was condemned by India as “extremely unfortunate”.

In India, Makki is on the UAPA’s list of designated terrorists and is wanted for his involvement in the 2000 attack on Delhi’s iconic Red Fort, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The United States also placed Makki on the Specially Designated Global Terrorist List and announced a $2 million reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction. (Arnie)
