A young man who borrowed his friend’s car and damaged it in an accident has been told to pay Dh22,889.

The Al Ain civil court of first instance issued a ruling ordering the Arab man to pay cash to a friend for damages.

According to official court documents, the young man filed a lawsuit against his friend, demanding that he pay him Dh70,000 for the material and moral damage he suffered as a result of damaging the car.

The plaintiff said in the suit that he lent his car to friends who needed it.

The defendant was involved in a major accident while driving the car, which severely damaged the car. He then fled after causing the crash.

Police investigated the matter and he was charged and convicted for causing the accident.

The plaintiff claimed that he borrowed money to buy the car and needed money to settle the cause of the accident and repair the car.

He also produced documents, including a copy of the car’s license plate, a copy of the vehicle permit, and a copy of the car’s repair permit and repair invoice.

After hearing both parties, the civil court judge ordered the accused to pay Dh22,889 – Dh17,889 for car repairs and Dh5,000 for emotional damages to his friend.

He was also told to pay his legal costs.
