The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has been promoting sustainable tourism products to travelers, encouraging eco-conscious travel adventures and striving to strengthen intercultural understanding.
According to an analysis by IPK International, about 80% of international travelers are concerned about sustainability, climate and environmental protection, and about 40% are looking for cost-effective deals in particular on accommodation.
Furthermore, 90% of respondents also had a strong desire to combine a city trip with a stay in a rural area; they extended their stay, which helped reduce their CO2 footprint.
