Ryan Fox returned from a slow start to the new season with a strong performance in the second round of the DP World Tour Championship in Abu Dhabi.
The New Zealand master shot a 1-under 71 and tied for 44th, seven shots behind the leader. He’s enjoying the best season of his career in 2022didn’t take long to rediscover his fiery touch and shot a 6-under-par 66 on Friday, catapulting him into a tie for ninth.
Fox got off to a solid start on the opening two holes of the Yas Island Links, followed by solid finishes on the 4th and 6th, and the 11th and 18th, as the round put him back on track. Back in the chase, now just three strokes away.
The pace was set by Italian duo Guido Migliozzi and Francesco Molinari, who shot 10-under 69 and 67 in the second round to lead Australia’s Jason Scrivner (70) one.

Fox’s round was the second-best of the day behind Sweden’s Alexander Bjork and France’s Victor Perez, who shot 65 for a quintet of 8-under par.
England’s Luke Donald held on to the lead overnight, but he shot a 3-over 75 to finish at 5-under par and tied for 22nd.
New Zealander Daniel Hillier, who was one shot behind, opened with an even-par 72 for a 4-under 68 (5 birdies, 1 bogey) before play was halted as the sky darkened , there is still a set of matches that have not yet ended.
Meanwhile, New Zealander Danny Lee continued his solid start with a 4-under 68 at the PGA Tour Amex event in California, taking him to 9 under. And moved up six spots to 21st at the halfway mark.
American Davis – Thompson shot 18 under par and led by two shots.
