Airplane flight…
Some places roll out the red carpet for special occasions. In Abu Dhabi, we do it in the air. Sandwich green, black, and white in there—and you’ve got a recipe for patriotic, kaleidoscope, supersonic, zigzag sky rugs that will break Instagram whenever it’s displayed.
We’re talking about those awesome jet-powered sky mongers here, Al Fursan, which translates to English as “Knight”. They are an elite squadron of UAE aerobatic pilots with Aermacchi MB-339 aircraft.
The team makes truly inspiring displays for special events, ceremonies and celebrations, and the trails of flag colors they weave across the sky can often be seen immediately.
These ‘Sky Riders’ began their recent rainbow tour over Abu Dhabi on January 18th and will continue today, January 19th and January 20th, with performances starting at 4.45pm each day.
You will be able to see them in the sky around the Corniche and more specifically – Qasr Al Hosn as part of the Al Hosn festival.
In the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi, Al Hosn Festival, a 10-day creative and cultural festival, is culminating (ending 22 January).
Spend time exploring Abu Dhabi’s historic traditions and its connections to contemporary and emerging cultures, expecting live performances, home workshops, food and beverage stalls, art and cultural exhibitions, immersive trails, re-enactments and more.
Visitors can also head to the new and beautiful Erth Restaurant, whose menu is heavily influenced by local culinary styles.Dishes include deconstructed date cake, luqaimat, Bzar marinated short ribs, Kobe beef tenderloin and fresh grilled salmon.
